At The Perfume Store, we want you to be completely satisfied with your fragrance purchase. Because of the personal nature of our products, we have established the following policy to ensure fair and transparent transactions in accordance with South African consumer law.
1. 14-Day “Change of Mind” Returns
If you change your mind about a purchase, you may return the item within 14 days of the delivery date. To be eligible for a return under this “change of mind” provision:
- The product must be entirely unopened and unused.
- The original protective cellophane or security seal must be intact.
- The packaging must be in its original, undamaged condition.
Please Note: Due to hygiene and health safety standards, we cannot accept returns for any perfume or personal care product that has been opened or sprayed. We recommend trying a smaller size or a sample if you are unsure of a scent.
2. Damaged or Incorrect Items
We take great care in packaging our scents, but if your order arrives damaged or if we sent you the wrong item:
- Please notify us at info@theperfumestore.co.za within 48 hours of receiving the parcel.
- Include your order number and clear photographs of the damaged or incorrect product.
- We will arrange for a courier to collect the item at our expense and provide a replacement or a full refund.
3. Defective Products (Hardware & Leaks)
If you find a manufacturing defect—such as a faulty spray pump or a leaking bottle—please contact us immediately. In line with the Consumer Protection Act, we will assess the defect and provide a repair, replacement, or refund.
Note: Natural variations in scent “longevity” are often related to skin chemistry or environmental factors and are generally not considered manufacturing defects.
4. How to Initiate a Return
To start the return process, please follow these steps:
- Send an email to info@theperfumestore.co.za with your order details.
- Wait for our team to provide you with a Return Authorization and the correct delivery address.
- For “Change of Mind” returns, the cost of the return courier is for the customer’s account. We recommend using a tracked service like The Courier Guy or Pudo to ensure the parcel reaches us safely.
5. Refund Processing
Once your return is received and inspected (usually within 3–5 business days):
- We will notify you via email regarding the approval or rejection of your refund.
- Approved refunds will be processed back to your original payment method (PayFast/Yoco/Bank Transfer).
- Please allow up to 7 working days for the funds to reflect in your account, depending on your bank’s processing times.
6. Non-Returnable Items
The following items cannot be returned or refunded:
- Gift cards.
- Items bought during “Clearance” or “Final Sale” events.
- Products that have been opened, used, or tampered with.
